Office of the Registrar Registration Help - How to register using Class Registration

Audit a Class

An audited class will not count toward graduation requirements. If you audit a course, you cannot take it in the future for credit.

Visit the Office of the Registrar to review the process for auditing a course. The FSHN department does not sign audit forms for Graduate Students. You must follow the directions provided by the Office of the Registrar to obtain the appropriate form and upload to the form directly to the Office of the Registrar.

Notify Me when seats become available

Notify Me

Want to know when a seat becomes available in a section of a course? (“Notify Me”)
Course Explore has a “Notify Me” option which allows students to select “favorites” and opt to receive an email if a seat becomes available in the section. The section status updates in Course Explorer from Self-Service every 10 minutes. If a course you want is full, register for another course but use this feature to know if a seat becomes available.

To set up a notification follow these steps:

  1. Go to https://courses.illinois.edu/ and log in. The log in link is on the top right hand side.
  2.  Search the course you’re interested in.
  3. In the third column, click on the star. This will add the section to your favorites.
  4. When you do that a little window pops up that you can go to your favorites in “my.courses.” Click on “my.courses”. There is also a tab in the upper right corner labeled “my.courses.”
  5.  Check the “Notify Me” box by the courses you’ve selected so an email will be sent your Illinois account when a seat is available.

The email notification will state the following:

This is an automated message from the Course Explorer system notifying you that a seat has become available for the following section:

Term:
Course:
CRN:
Meeting day/time:

This notification does not guarantee you the seat nor indicate that you are eligible to enroll in that section. Visit Student Self-Service to register for classes once your Time Ticket is active. Modify your notifications in the Course Explorer.
