The Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition awards approximately $62,000 in undergraduate scholarships each year for which freshman are eligible. The following scholarship opportunities are a sample of those available to incoming freshmen through the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition, the College of ACES, and affiliate organizations.
- Institute of Food Technologists: $1,000–$2,000; Scholarships are awarded on the basis of scholastic record, ability, and personality for students choosing an option in Food Science. - Crest Foods: Scholarships awarded on the basis of scholastic record, ability and an interest in Food Science. Students must also be from Lee or Ogle counties in Illinois. - National Restaurant Association: Several awards are given annually to students who have demonstrated commitment to both a post-secondary foodservice education and a career in the restaurant and foodservice industry. - ACES Jonathon Baldwin Turner Scholarships: $1,000 for 4 years; those students who meet the minimum academic criteria (ACT composite of 27 and/or top 10% in your high school class) would be eligible to be considered for one of the College of ACES Jonathan Baldwin Turner scholarships. - Various Department Scholarships: Several awards given to incoming freshmen on the basis of scholastic and leadership abilities, commitment to a related career, motivation and communication skills.
