To develop registered dietitians with a strong research base to become leaders in the fields of food, nutrition, and health.
Program Goals
- To remain an academically rigorous and well-respected program within the department and the nutrition community at large. The program will prepare highly qualified registered dietitians
- To prepare graduates who will demonstrate professionalism and strong research skills.
- To train dietetics professionals to become leaders in their chosen fields. To aid in their development and professional growth.
Measurable Outcomes
- Prior to starting the internship, interns will have completed majority of their thesis work. Interns will devote 100% of their time to the internship rotations and assignments.
- Interns will complete the program within an appropriate timeframe.
- Interns will take the CDR registration examination within one year of completing the internship program.
- Interns will be competitive for employment in the current job market.
- Site preceptors will evaluate each intern's professionalism and research skills at the end of each rotation.
- Preceptors will ensure competencies are met in a professional manner.
- Employers will complete evaluation of interns at the end of one year of employment.Interns will complete thesis research.
- Interns will attain and maintain competency in their chosen fields.
- Interns will model professional skills and behaviors, including ethical practice, commitment to lifelong learning and ability to collaborate and work well with others
