The Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition has excellent research facilities including fully equipped chemistry, microbiology, biochemistry, nutrition, and molecular biology laboratories; food-processing pilot plant complex; bioprocessing/fermentation pilot plant; metablic kitchen; and sensory science lab.

Newly renovated food labs provide a state-of-the art environment in which to have hands-on experience preparing foods. The Bevier Café and Spice Box provide a unique environment for quantity foods and fine dining courses, as well as special lectures and social gatherings.
